The South Lake Hotel has 40 large and small restaurants with more than 1700 seats for diners. They are scattered across the reception zones of the Main Building, the small-building villas, the Building 7 business reception zone and the Clear-moon villas. The restaurant decors are varied. The dining forms are divided into three, which are banquet, buffet and a la carte. The foods are mainly of the Jilin cuisine coupled with the cuisines of Hangbang, Guangdong, Sichuan, Hunan and others. The "South Lake Buddha Skipping the Wall” has become a Jilin dish for state banquets. In recent years, the restaurants have promoted series of well-known dishes such as Jilin Tasty, Tasty Pot of Shark's Fin, Tasty Pot of Abalone, Braised Treasures from Deer with Shark's Fin, Scallop with Dried Shark’s Fin, Pine Mushroom and Snow Frog Soup, Health Soup of Maize, etc., which are all very popular among guests.
Dish sculpture is another highlight of South Lake’s catering service. The sculptures are designed, carved and placed on the table according to the banquet connotations with profound sentiments and emotions to convey a variety of messages, so that the dishes, while satisfying gourmets in terms of “color, savory and taste”, contain the concepts of “meanings” to give the catering service new cultural connotations and interpretations.
